One of the themes that ties The Web Guys together is that we’re always working to push ourselves to the next level — both in our personal and professional lives. As the summer draws to a close, we thought we’d offer a snapshot of what’s going on in the lives of your favorite digital marketing team. Here’s a brief look at some recent highlights:

Professional Gains

One of the Client Success team’s newest members has made enormous strides in building her existing skillset as well as tackling new challenges. Client Success Advisor Elizabeth Ambs is now Google AdWords certified — a distinction she shares with our colleague Kylee Spier.

I asked Elizabeth a couple of questions regarding her recent accomplishment.

What was the most difficult aspect of becoming AdWords certified?

“From learning what factors affect ad position to knowing where ads are eligible to show, the Google AdWords exam study process requires a person to be detail-orientated,” she said. “It’s not sufficient to know one concept alone — building a successful campaign is about understanding all the ins and outs of AdWords.”

What has changed for you since being certified?

“Before I became AdWords certified, I knew general guidelines for how to write ads and set bids. After I received my certification, I have a better understanding of different ways those ads can be boosted across the Google Search and Display Network,” Elizabeth said. “I can organize and manage campaigns much more effectively thanks to my certification.”

Personal Gains

Resident dinosaur enthusiast and Web designer extraordinaire Scott Curry recently purchased his first house. Scott credits his work with The Web Guys for giving him an opportunity to meet this milestone.

“Working for a small business doesn’t mean you can’t have big dreams,” he told me.

Scott also offered some helpful advice to prospective home buyers: “There are a lot of first-time costs that go into being a new homeowner, so make sure you go into the process with a clear vision of everything you’ll need to get your new home up and running.”

Group Gains

As a team, we’ve all been working on building the dynamic atmosphere already established in the office. From morning news roundups to group training sessions and even Jeopardy! showdowns at the end of each day, we’re always finding ways to eliminate stress and strengthen the bonds that make us a cohesive unit.

My personal favorite is the daily Jeopardy! game, because I get to be Alex Trebek (with less grey hair).

We’re also putting our heads together to tackle some of the most common questions we hear in our new series, #FAQuesday.

What do the next few months hold for The Web Guys? Without a crystal ball or clever algorithm, there’s really no way to know. What we do know is that we’ll tackle our challenges head on, with a smile, and we’ll let you know how it goes.
